ABOUT VALENDA J

Valenda J is a digital illustrator, graphic designer, and charcoal artist based in Orlando, Florida. Her creative journey started long before she considered herself an artist—back in the early 2000s, when she found herself customizing layouts and visuals on MySpace just for the joy of making something expressive and personal. Brooklyn born (Broward raised) Haitian-American Raised, she grew up surrounded by different cultures, communities, and creative influences, all of which quietly shaped her eye for storytelling.

It wasn’t until a Drawing 101 class in college that Valenda realized art wasn’t just something she just enjoyed, but it was something she was gifted with.

Feeling lost and alone through the pandemic, she turned back to her love of art. That connection pushed her to take her craft seriously, exploring everything from digital illustration to traditional charcoal work, and blending them with an urban, modern aesthetic. All while keeping the black man’s experience in mind.

Faith plays a meaningful role in Valenda’s approach to art. She sees creativity as a gift she’s been trusted to steward, and her work often reflects themes of purpose, identity, and truth. Rather than preaching, she aims to communicate visually; letting color, texture, and symbolism bring the visions entrusted to her to life.

At her core, Valenda is a storyteller. She creates pieces that feel alive and relatable, drawing inspiration from motherhood, Scripture, music, culture, and her own experiences as a Black woman navigating the world. Her work ranges from bold digital portraits to expressive charcoal drawings, each piece rooted in intention.

Based in Orlando and open to travel, Valenda continues to collaborate with brands, writers, artists, and other creative individuals who value art with meaning and perspective.

For business inquiries or custom work, she welcomes the opportunity to connect.
